“Capital Strings Pre-Season” Required for new students (1st & 2nd year of Capital Strings). Others: If you can make it, GREAT! If not, that’s OK. Friday Sept. 9 –Help tune and lead play-in of Book 1-4 students. Also perform La Folia. Fridays September 16-Oct. 21, chamber music 3:30-5:00 and “pre-season” Capital Strings rehearsals 5:00-5:45 Capital Strings Regular Season It is expected that you attend all rehearsals and concerts. Unavoidable conflicts we understand. The ideal would be to have everyone there every time. To work on listening to each other in the depth that Steve asks of you, is such a precious and unique experience. It comes from working and playing together a lot. BUT – we would rather have each one of you participate than not, so if you have any conflicts or concerns with this schedule, let me know and maybe we can work something out. Fridays from Oct. 28 through May 4, 3:15 meet, play 3:30-5:45 Christmas Concert Sat. Dec. 10, afternoon, place TBA Concert at Granite Hill Estates Friday Jan. 20 Benefit Concert Sunday March 25 Retreat to be scheduled Concerts in Augusta and Portland May 5 & 6 Solo Recital Saturday May 12 Optional concerto concert rehearsals May 11 through June 10, with Concerto Concert on June 10 Order the following music: For violinists (or violists who wish to play violin) Fritz Kreisler’ Praeludium and Allegro. It can be ordered as a separate piece, or there is a lovely collection of many of Kreisler’s works, The Fritz Kreisler Collection, vol. 1 For violists: Bach Brandenburg Concerto #6 For cellists: a piece yet to be determined

Other opportunities (not required for Capital Strings, just interesting opportunities) Oct. 1 –It would be nice to have a group playing La Folia again (this time with duet & cello parts) at the Manchester Apple Festival PSS Chamber music – Sept. 9-Oct. 21, 3:30-5:00 Nov, 4 & 5 MSA Sonata Festival at Portland Conservatory of Music Dec. 17, Messiah Sing with Augusta Symphony Orchestra. Rehearsals Wed. 7:00 pm at Hope Baptist Church Dec. 7 & 14 and possibly Nov. 30. I have music if you would like to purchase. (only $5!!!) |
